TCC Light Party.
The biggest kids party of the year exploded to life on the last weekend in October, as Tumbarumba Community Church, Interact and Rotary Clubs hosted the TCC Light Party 2015!
The TCC Light Party simply offered a better alternative to the traditional Halloween activities for the young families of the Tumbarumba community. In previous years the local Interact Club have hosted a Trick or Treat Children’s Event, but this year they accepted the invitation to partner with Tumbarumba Community Church in presenting the Light Party, and they brought the local Rotary Club along with them. Most of our TCC ZION Youth are also involved in Interact, so there was already a strong connection in place.
On the day, dinosaurs and ladybugs, sharks and pussycats, flowerpots and an entire array of “Living Things” gathered at the church facility, as an excess of 120 primary and preschool age children, plus their parents, turned out to enjoy the fun. Drawing from a population of just 2,500, this was a huge response from the community.
Two giant jumping castles, balloon sculpting, bubble machines, giant bumper balls, sandpit, craft table, cupcake decorating, froot loop threading, bean bag toss, lolly chase, twister games and face painting kept the children busy throughout the afternoon. TCC, Interact and ZION had the crowd bustling with fun, fun, and more fun!
The main event brought everything to a standstill, and the TCC auditorium to bursting point, as the electrifying ‘Dallas Atkins One Man Show’ held the kids and carers captivated with magic, music and much deafening merriment.
It was the Rotarians who were busy sizzling sausages to feed the crowd as the outdoor fun continued.
TCC Light Party Bags were distributed to a very happy and grateful bunch of kids who expressed very enthusiastic thanks, and headed for home for a much needed bath and bed.
Tumbarumba Community Church received two grants for this event: the ACC Community Engagement Grant and the Children’s Week Grant. The combination of these grants and the generosity of the TCC Family, Interact and Rotary members ensured an extravagant blessing for the young families of the Tumbarumba Community, and the town was buzzing with high praise and gratitude for weeks following the event.
Thankyou ACC Community Engagement for supporting TCC in hosting the biggest kids party of the year!
