Alumni Insight Story
“Let your light shine before others so that they may see your good works and praise your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16
Andrew completed a Bachelor of Theology from 1997 – 2000, during Alphacrucis College’s Chester Hill days when they were known as Southern Cross College. He is now the director of WestCare Community Services, which is the community care arm of Imagine Nations Church in Penrith, NSW under the leadership of Pastors Jack and Carol Hanes.
Andrew oversees and engages in a diverse range of benevolent and transformative activities while seeking to meaningfully engage with the business, civic, community, and social networks in his city.
"I was quite aware at the time (twenty-plus years ago) that God was pouring things into my life during that season that He would bring out in the days to come. I could not have comprehended at the time that He would lead me into the ministry I now fulfil. But looking back that season of study and associated life experience was pivotal in His development for me."
Andrew has a contagious can-do attitude and plays a vital role in supporting his local community through various WestCare initiatives such as; Steps of Hope and the Penrith Men's Walk and Talk to name a few.
Andrew was recently awarded with a NSW Government Community Services award, presented by Stuart Ayres MP. Just two of these awards are handed out each year, which is a huge honour and privilege for all the staff and volunteers of WestCare. Congratulations Andrew on the receipt of your award and you are to be commended for the work you and your team are doing for the local community.
