Big Sunday.
Big Sunday is ordinary, everyday people combining together to contribute back to those in our community who are struggling to survive, are marginalised through isolation, poverty, disability or sickness. Big Sunday acts to provide hope to hopeless situations through practical service.
During the annual 2015 Big Sunday weekend, saw hundreds of volunteers came together to contribute back to the community through 6 projects. These projects included:
Free haircuts for the homeless.
A complete renovation on a Drug and Alcohol facility for Aboriginal Women, a first of its kind in South Australia.
Hand made Toiletry packs and Feeding pillows which were donated to the women that enter the Genesis Pregnancy Support organisation.
Kids Fun Run which raised well deserved resources for the kids at Team Kids, formally known as the Womens and Childrens Hospital Foundation.
A House and Garden make over on a property that runs a community focused feeding program.
Big Sunday Out, a celebration for all that is achieved across the weekend, open to volunteers and community.
One of the best things about Big Sunday is that everybody has some way that they can help someone else and through a range of diverse projects we see this become a reality.
In 2016 Big Sunday will be launching some new regular community initiatives, including an end of Month Club, feeding the poor program, free hair cuts for the homeless and more.
